NJCF calls for State-wide prayer on Mar 20

Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) has called upon all denominations to hold a day of prayer on March 20, from 6 a.m. to 12 noon for confession, repentance and for the Naga political solution. NJCF has also appealed to denominations in Naga inhabited areas in other parts of the North East to also participate in the prayer day.

According to a letter to heads of various denominations, NJCF vice president Rev. Dr. N Paphino said Nagas were in distress situation. “The Naga political settlement which we term it as ‘solution’ is creating fear and uncertainty in the minds of our people.” NJCF said hard talks, hard disagreements, hard accusations and counter accusations and many others have become the order of the day.

NJCF said that “in our selfishness and pride, stubbornness and arrogance, we are losing sight of the main issue. We blame others of the ‘divide and rule’ policy but we have comfortably become proponents of this ideology by trying to eliminate each other in self righteousness. The common people are becoming impatient and downcast.”

With speculations doing the round, NJCF said fear and terror was knocking at the door. “In a situation such as this, we can only turn to God for help and direction,” it added. “...Our leaders cannot turn their deaf ear to the wishes of common people who have been praying for them for many years. We have believed in them and have supported them through thick and thin. It is now time for them to deliver to the people by coming together,” it said.
