NJCF dismayed over false prophecies

Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) has expressed deep dismay over the false propaganda using God and prophecy to demean the sanctity of the church and prophecy.

In a statement issued through its vice president Rev Dr N Paphino, NJCF observed that unfounded and self-styled prophecy has created more confusion among the people during this difficult time when the world is going through the life-threatening pandemic. It alleged that some people who call themselves prayer people of habitually creating fear psychosis among the people misusing the name of God.

Pointing out that the church holds the institution of prophecy in high esteem, NJCF stressed that the prophecy could not be used at every turn to go against the plan and programmes that were for the good of people. It said those who saw things for their self-interest could not be trusted. “How many times a prophecy can be proven wrong for those who propagate falsehood?” it asked.

NJCF urged the church to remain vigilant against false prophets or prophetess in order to maintain the sanctity of the church. It also reminded the Christians to be on guard from such prophecies doing the round.

The forum suggested that one way to test a prophecy was to test it with the nature and universality and what was said.

Expressing its dismay over labelling of any new thing invented as “mark of the beast”, NJCF said this only exhibited “our shallowness and ignorance about the Christian teaching of salvation”.

“Our salvation is based on the work of a person and not on the invented things. We are bought by the blood of Jesus Christ and those who believe and accept that will never lose their salvation because of a vaccine,” NJCF stated.
