Even as the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to sweep across the country, the Nagaland Medical Council (NMC) has called upon all its members to commit themselves to face the situation and not shy away from the responsibilities.

In a press release, NMC president Dr. Joyce Angami and vice president Dr. Sashimeren Aier also appealed to its members, who were not in active service such as retired doctors, to equip/upgrade themselves since their services could be called anytime if the situation demands.
NMC also reminded the members of the Medical Council of India code of ethics chapter 5.2, which states “When an epidemic occurs a physician should not abandon his duty for fear of contracting the disease himself”. Failure to comply with the code of ethics, the NMC warned could invite disciplinary action.
Meanwhile, NMC has appreciated all members of medical fraternity for their contribution to the challenge of pandemic so far.
The council has urged all to follow the SOP guidelines and offer their best to the noble humanitarian service.
