NPCC condemns Hathras incident; slams BJP

DIMAPUR, OCT 3 (NPN) | Publish Date: 10/3/2020 12:58:18 PM IST

NPCC President K. Therie has condemned what he described as “heinous rape and assault of 19 year old Hathras victim on Sept 14, 2020 and her subsequent forced cremation” on September 29.

In a statement, Therie also said his party resolved to “express its strong disapproval and condemn the conduct of UP chief minister and his police and administration’s handling of mourner and the entire case.” He strongly condemned the BJP for its treatment of women in UP and alleged that the party has no affection towards women.

He also said the conduct of the BJP in UP “violated all forms of law, culture, customs and humanity’ which betrayed Modi’s slogan of “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.”

Therie also said the manner in which Congress delegation led by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were manhandled and denied “access to the mourning family had once again exposed the BJP’s intolerance towards established democratic practices”.

He said the police and administration’s conduct of intimidating the victim’s family by not allowing them to perform the last rites and forcible cremation the body was another example of BJP’s misuse of government machinery.
