Naga Tribal Union Chumukedima Town (NTUCT) which held a joint meeting with the civil society organisations and Chümoukedima Chambers of Commerce and Traders Union (CCCTU) at its office on April 1, 2021, resolved that “any sort of taxation” from various Naga political groups (NPGs) would not be allowed within Chümoukedima jurisdiction.

In a press release, NTUCT president Lhousito Khro and joint secretary Aolemba Longkumer said the joint meeting, which discussed the issue of rampant taxation in and around Chümoukedima, resolved to reaffirm the February 13, 2014 resolution to stand by the clarion call for “One government, one tax”.
NTUCT said the house also reiterated that action will be taken against any of the business community violating the February 2014 resolution.
While acknowledging the struggles faced by the “different political groups for the freedom movement”, the meeting, however, maintained that “random and rampant taxation” by various NPGs was only killing the aspirations of the people and impacting heavily on the economy of the people.
The meeting was attended by CCCTU, Timber Association Chumoukedima, Sand Stockist and Supplier’s Union Chumoukedima, Boulder Union Chumoukedima, Chumoukedima Town Angami Mechu Krotho, Head G.B Chumoukedima town, Chumoukedima A Village and the officials of the NTUCT.
