Kohima district administration has extended the implementation of ‘Odd-Even’ system for movement of private vehicles under the jurisdiction of Kohima municipality except on Sundays with immediate effect and remain in force till July 31, 2020.

In an order, the deputy commissioner (DC) and chairman of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie, said that the odd even system was being implemented in the interest of public safety and to minimize non-essential movement of vehicles.
DC reiterated that prohibition and restriction of movement of vehicles would, however, not apply to the exempted categories.
Local taxis will be allowed to ply within kohima municipality as per the colour-coding.
DC warned that violation of the order would be liable to be penalised under Section 51 (b) of the Disaster Management Act 2005.
