To promote organic local produces and the farmers in Kohima district, a weekly organic market was inaugurated on Wednesday at Kohima local ground (North Gate). The bazaar was initiated by Angami Youth Organization (AYO) and Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) for weekly sales of essential commodities every Wednesday from 6 a.m.

Marking the occasion, agricultural produce marketing committee (APMC) chairman Kohima, Kevinourheno Seyie inaugurated the weekly organic market. In her short speech, she appreciated the AYO and KMC for taking the initiative to make a provisional market place for vendors to sell their local vegetables and other commodities. She also suggested that the price for essentials should be reasonable so that the vendors can attract more customers.

AYO president Kekhrie Pfukha said the initiative was intended to promote local produce and products to establish a sustainable local economy. He further invited more vendors to occupy the space in the coming weeks. More than 10 vendors displayed their organic fruits, vegetables, juice and spices at the bazaar on the first day.
