State Health & Family Welfare minister, S. Pangnyu Phom on Tuesday inaugurated three Primary Health Centres (PHCs)-Sakshi, Pongo and Namching under Longleng district. 

According to DIPR report, in his inaugural speech at Sakshi PHC, Pangnyu stated that Sakshi block was the most neglected part of the district and that it was lagging behind in infrastructure development. 

He appealed to the government officers and civil societies to give special attention to uplift Sakshi and urged leaders of Sakshi to work harder with dedication for the benefit of the people.

He further informed that Sakshi was chosen as aspiration block by the DPDB under his leadership for development of Sakshi. 

At Pongo PHC, Pangnyu called upon department officials of H&FW to conduct the follow-up action and fulfil the needs of the health centres.

Meanwhile at Namchan, the minister informed the people that there were many non-functional health centres in the state and the department would try to make it functional as committed to the people.

He was optimistic that the upgraded PHCs under Longleng would also benefit the neighbouring village of Tuensang and Mon district. 

In a short speech, deputy commissioner (DC) Longleng, M Shayung Phom congratulated H&FW department for upgrading more health centres in the district.

He encouraged the people that landowners should not create hindrance to development but take ownership of the health centres and cater best health care facilities to the people.

At Sakshi and Namching, CMO Longleng, Dr. Obangjungla delivered welcome address and briefed on the status of health unit while in Pongo deputy CMO Longleng, Dr. Philip Kent delivered welcome address and briefed on the health unit under the PHC.  

Project director, directorate of H&FW Dr. Vitoka, joint director, directorate of H&FW, Dr. Tiasunep Pongener and deputy director, directorate of H&FW, Dr. Lemnyei Konyak also delivered short speeches.

Others who spoke on the occasion were EYSU president, Aye Keikung and public leader at Sakshi, Phulang Avennoho; public leader at Pongo and president PPC, Mylo and public leader at Namching, Bukshe.

The programmes were chaired by DIO Longleng Dr. S. Imnameren Phom at Sakshi, DTO Longleng Dr. Temsusashi at Pongo and DVBO Longleng Dr. S. Marina Yaden at Namching.
