Passenger trains to remain suspended

In continuation of measures taken in the wake of COVID-19, Northeast Frontier Railways  has informed that all regular passenger train services on Indian Railways including Premium trains, Mail/Express trains, Passenger trains services, Narrow gauge trains etc will remain cancelled until further advice. Accordingly, all regular passenger carrying trains originating from and coming towards N.F. Railway will also remain cancelled.

A press release by NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda stated that  Shramik Special trains which started w.e.f. May 1 , Rajdhani Special trains which started May 12 and other passenger special trains which started w.e.f. June 1 for movement of the stranded and other people will however continue to ply. The release stated that the occupancy of special trains is being monitored on regular basis and additional special trains may be run based on the requirement. Also, to ensure uninterrupted supplies of the essential commodities both for common people and various industries throughout the country, movement of freight, parcel and POL carrying trains will continue, the release further stated.

It may be mentioned here that in NFR area 2 Rajdhani Special trains and 6(six) other passenger special trains presently under operation connecting cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Amritsar and Kolkata to cater to the requirement of people with urgent travel requirements.
