PDNCSU flays obstruction of 2-lane works

Phek District Nagaland Contractors & Supplier’s Union (PDNCSU) has condemned the obstruction of two-lane works under Phek district by some individuals, which compelled the road construction company to temporarily suspend the works.

In a press release, PDNCSU president Kuzhosheyi Soho Alex and general secretary Razou Lohe said that Shivalaya Construction Company has temporarily suspended two-lane works under Phek district especially from Sedzu River to 50 Kms stretch due to “frequent pestering” by some individuals from certain villages demanding machineries for engaging in their personal woks.

“It is learnt that some individuals had even deliberately released water from the water canals to the partly completed retaining walls and the works have to be suspended which is very unfortunate,” PDNCSU stated.

Stating that the companies/contractors were facing such difficulties, PDNCSU said it would “not hesitate to expose” those people obstructing developmental works in the district.

It said that such frequent interruptions had apparently led to disturbances in carrying out the smooth transition of their assigned developmental activities.

PDNCSU has urged the VCC/public leaders of those villages to rein in their fellow members from carrying out such illegal activities, which could tantamount to obstructing developmental activities. It said that such illegal activities were liable to be booked and detained as per law.

Further, the union reminded all responsible that “we cannot afford to let this opportunity slip away again due to our petty selfishness.”

PDNCSU has also urged the district administration to take note of such occurrences and take action against those individuals obstructing developmental activities. It also demanded that adequate security be provided to the contractors so developmental works were carried out without any hindrances and completed within the stipulated time.
