Department of Land Resources, Peren headed by district project officer, Alemla Aier, conducted training-cum-field demonstration on organic farming of permaculture at Jalukie office on September 22.

According to DIPR report, the training mainly emphasized on sustainability of livelihood for the rural farming community.  Participants were given first hand information on permaculture designs, wherein five different permaculture designs were created at the office premises using locally available materials like empty plastic bottles, bamboo, wood and stone for demonstration.

Aier stated that it’s about beneficial design- but beneficial in a way that will not just be beneficial to humans but to the larger ecosystem that it exists within “earth care-people care- fair share”.  Permaculture seeks to preserve and extend natural systems whilst designing a cultivated ecology for food production. The participants were also provided with seeds of winter crops and farming tools.
