9th general session of the Phom Gazetted Officers’ Association (PGOA) was held at Shingphang bridge point, here on Saturday with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Longleng, M. Shayung Phom as special guest and former executive secretary PBCA, Y. Nuklu Phom as guest speaker. The two-day general session was hosted by Yongam village council.

Speaking at the occasion, DC said that officers were pillars of the government and society where vision and objectives could be accomplished and implemented through their selfless service and cooperation. 

He appealed to the officers to be agents of change and develop efficient and effective quality leadership to bring positive impact in a society.

While congratulating PGOA for coming thus far, Phom Peoples’ Council (PPC) president, Shami Angh said that officers were the backbone of the society and urged them to be committed and give their best service for all round development. 

He challenged the officers to live up to the expectation of the public by connecting various government programmes to the public at the grassroots level.

Adding that everything was possible through unity and mutual understanding, he urged the members to stay united and extend all cooperation.

Guest speaker, Y. Nuklu Phom also called upon the officers to be sincere and honest while discharging their duties.

While lauding the contributions of Phom officers, he challenged them to collectively contribute to uplift the less privileged people of the district in particular and state in general.

Earlier, the programme was hosted by DPO Mon, Tauhong Phom and associate professor, Yingli College, Wangngoi Phom. Pastor Yongam Baptist Church, Rev. S Konlong pronounced invocation, presidential address by president PGOA and deputy director agri. Department, B. Nyenghong Phom, welcome address by chairman, Yongam village Council, Yanjei Phom, special song by Yupa Phom & group while vote of thanks was delivered by joint secretary PGOA, Batong Phom.

During the session, new team of PGOA office bearers were announced for the tenure 2021-2023 with ADC W. Manpai as president, principal, Henow Chingzung as vice president, DPO Y. Tauhong as general secretary, under secy, YP Along and deputy director Dr. M. Longai as joint secretaries, BDO P. Namsung as finance secretary, JSO T. Lungmei as assistant finance secretary and assistant director S. Chaidok as press secretary.
