Railway labourer attacked in Manipur

A labourer engaged in railway project in Manipur was struggling for life after he sustained critical injuries in a gun attack by suspected militants.
Reports said that he was shot at by the miscreants suspected to be cadres of an underground group near a shop at his worksite at Awang Khunou in Imphal West district under Patsoi police station of Imphal West district around 5.30 pm on Tuesday. The critically wounded Abdul Malik (25), son of Md Ali from Assam’s Dubri district is struggling for life at RIMS hospital where he was evacuated by his colleagues.
Abdul Malik was hit by a bullet on his upper right chest had pierced through the back side.
As told by his colleagues, Malik was shot at by the miscreants while coming out from a local shop after buying a water bottle.
Tuesday’s shooting incident was the second time in less than two weeks in which migrant workers have been attacked by suspected militants in Manipur.
On November 10 last, a non-local scrap collector from West Bengal’s Malda district was shot dead by suspected underground cadres at Utlou under Nambol police station of Bishnupur district.
The victim, Sabir Sheikh, had migrated to Imphal and stayed at Hatta and was engaged in scrap collections.
