Railways cancel regular trains

Following the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, Indian Railways has decided to cancel all regular passenger train services until further notice.

In this regard, NFR Chief Public Relations Officer, Subhanan Chanda said that all regular passenger carrying trains coming towards N.F. Railway and originating from N.F. Railway will also remain cancelled. He also informed that all tickets booked for the period up to August 12 will be cancelled and a full refund would be given to passengers.

For PRS counter generated tickets, CPRO said refund across counters can be taken up to six months from the date of journey and for e-tickets, the refund will be made automatically.

However, CPRO informed that Shramik Special trains-- Rajdhani Special trains and other passenger special trains for transportation of stranded and other people will continue.

Moreover, in order to ensure uninterrupted supplies of the essential commodities across the country, movement of freight, parcel and POL carrying trains will also continue, he added.

It may be mentioned that under NFR area, two Rajdhani Special trains and six other passenger special trains are presently under operation connecting cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Amritsar and Kolkata.

Railways is monitoring occupancy position of these special trains on a regular basis and whenever a decision is taken to introduce new special trains, the schedule will be notified.
