Road Coordination Committee of Langpangkong Tzukong Mungdang (RCCLTM) has expressed utter discontentment over the poor workmanship of the on-going two lane construction of National Highway-61.

In a press note, convenor of the RCCLTM (Langpangkong Range Peoples Conference) Marsanen Imsong stated that the range people have expressed anguish over the poor quality work despite repeated appeals made by the people for skilled workmanship as per the DPR.

It stated that Sri Avantika Contractors (I) Ltd based in Hyderabad (and Vertex Company based in Nagaland) were currently employed in the two lane construction of NH-61 in the jurisdiction of Mongsenyimti, Chuchuyimlang and Unger villages under Langpangkong range of Mokokchung.

A joint team of Langpangkong Tzukong Mungdang led by the president M. Zulu Ozukum, Langpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (Langpangkong Students’ Conference) led by its president Washi Longkumer and senior members, Road Coordination Committee of LTM led by the convenor, chairmen and village council members of Mongsenyimti, Chuchuyimlang and Unger villages paid a surprise visit to check the on-going construction works at NH-2 (between Mokokchung and Tuli) and NH-702C (between Merangkong and Tamlu) under its jurisdiction on Tuesday.

At the joint meeting, members expressed discontentment over the poor quality of goods supplied specially in the construction of breast and retaining walls and the sub-standard and poor quality of work.

The members also expressed apprehension over the random operation of construction work which reportedly led to several massive landslides along the national highway, thereby severely affecting both public and private properties which were not compensated.

The joint team appealed the authority concerned to look into the matter and rectify the erroneous workmanship for the benefit of the people at large.

The meeting resolved to stand firm and demand better workmanship as per the DPR.

Meanwhile, the Langpangkong people have expressed appreciation to the Keystone Infra Ltd (based in Hyderabad) for rendering good workmanship in constructing the on-going NH-702C between Merangkong and Tamlu town and appealed the firm to continue the same service.
