Reports on COVID-19 activities from across state

In the light of emergence of new COVID-19 cases across the country including Nagaland, the state Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department along with various other government agencies are gearing up to contain and mitigate COVID-19.

Tuensang: District Task Force (DTF) for COVID-19 Tuensang held a meeting at DC’s conference hall, Tuensangon April 12. 
According to DIPR report, The meeting was chaired by DC and chairman DTF Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant.
The members discussed on reviving the check gate at 3rd NAP check post to collect the travel history and bio data in case for contact tracing purposes. The members also agreed to go for a massive awareness drive for COVID behaviors to contain the pandemic; tribal leaders, ward leaders and COC-I have been given responsibility for the same.   
The house also discussed on COVID vaccination drive, where all the PHCs and CHCs are to be activated for the same purpose and also decided to host a vaccination mela at Tuensang Town Hall on April 13 and 14.
Longleng: Along with the rest of the country, the district health society Longleng launched “vaccine festival/mela” Sunday at Longleng Town Baptist Church premises.
In a press release, the department stated that the aim of the mela was to give maximum effort to improve the vaccination coverage amongst the eligible population i.e. persons of age 45 or more, healthcare workers and frontline workers. The vaccine festival will continue till April 14. 
During the church service, chief medical officer Dr. Obangjunglaspoke on the importance of vaccine festival and why it is being organised all over the country. She encouraged everyone to avail the opportunity and get vaccinated. 
Dr. Obangjungla also encouraged the congregation to wear masks, to use hand sanitizers and to always maintain social distance cautioning that the fight against the virus was far from over. 
Prior to the start of vaccination, miking on the vaccine festival was done by district media officer and district community mobiliser in all the wards at Longleng town. The team was led by CMO Dr Obangjungla and others.
Mon: Following the directive of government of India to improve COVID-19 vaccination coverage, a vaccination mela was held in all the blocks of Mon district on April 11 for persons of age 45 years and above, health care workers and frontline workers. 
A press release by National Health Mission (NHM) Mon stated that the mela was held on Sunday with an aim to sensitise the congregation during the church services. It said for easy access, vaccination sites were created near the church premises.
In maximizing the effort, a sensitisation drive was held in all the churches of Mon Town by the administrative officers, doctors and staffs of health and family welfare department led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mon, Thavaseelan K and others.
Wokha: District Task Force (DTF) Wokha held a meeting on COVID-19 on April 9 at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Wokha office.
According to DIPR report, chairperson of the meeting, DC Wokha and chairman DTF, Orenthung Lotha said the district need to reenforce screening and registration of people coming to the district from outside the state.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Wokha, Dr.C.W.Tungoesaid COVID-19 testing was being done for students studying outside the state. 
He appealed the district administration and village council leaders for coordination during surveillance of suspected COVID positive cases. The DTF members decided that screening and registration for person entering the district would be done at Tiyi Hall, Rest House which would be turned into an institutional quarantine.
The members also agreed to strictly enforce the latest SOP such as wearing of face mask, social distancing in public places/gathering and hand washing.
