Two-day online training on “sensitisation on agriculture and promotion of bee-keeping” was organised for ATMA functionaries by State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) from September 8 to 9.

A press release by SAMETI Medziphema stated that, director SAMETI & principal IETC i/c Dr. Watimongla Jamir, in her inaugural speech mentioned that bee-keeping was an enterprise which was not limited to farmers only.

She said that it can be established in one’s own backyard, which would benefit the crops in the kitchen garden, besides providing honey. She also encouraged the participants to interact with the resource persons and take maximum advantage of the training programme.

Resource persons for the training were Chubanungla Shilu and Bokali A. Chikhe, apiculture officer & team member from Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM). Various topics on beekeeping scope and potentials and harvesting of honey and post harvest management were covered.

Feedback was received from all participants and e-certificates were issued to the participants. Altogether, 22 ATMA functionaries from all districts of Nagaland attended the programme.
