Global Concepts Nagaland (GCN) in collaboration with Nagaland Khadi & Village Industries Board (NKVIB) organised “skill training for rural employment” with the opening ceremony held here, at town council hall on Monday.

In his speech, DC Mon Thavaseelan K thanked NKVIB and Global Concepts Nagaland and said that Mon district was the third most populated district in Nagaland that the district administration had been trying to organise programmes after the pandemic.

He shared the importance of self-reliance which the pandemic had taught everyone. On behalf of the government, he requested the participants not to attend just to receive certificates but to create a livelihood.

He also requested banks to consider genuine loan seekers to create and establish business.

During a brief introduction of resource persons and the workshop, chief consultant, Vikas Rao highlighted that the objective of the workshop was to empower participants to start business and to transfer skills.

He said that similar skill training workshop was conducted in Kohima and Dimapur and was impressed with good number of participants from Mon in particular.

Meanwhile, SBI Mon lead bank manager, C. Yanthung encouraged the interested participants to generate income to make good use of the scheme that the bank provided. 

Earlier, the opening ceremony was chaired by NKVIB, Mon development officer, Nginai Phewang, invocation by Newsite Fellowship pastor Phelem, special song by Nokong Anghaa and vote of thanks from NKVIB Mon, executive officer Lukheto Sohe..

It may be mentioned that four venues were located for the skill training workshop such as: food processing at Mon town council hall; beekeeping at NPF conference hall; carpentry at DRDA Hall and toilet & laundry soap making at KU conference hall.

On Monday, the workshop saw a registration from 500 participants.
