SLBC mulls reducing working hours

With sudden surge in Covid-19 cases in Nagaland and to prevent further spread, State Level Bankers’ Committee convenor has suggested to cut short the banking business hours in branches between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. as against 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In a letter to chief secretary, SLBC also suggested that head offices/administrative offices/branches would function with 50% staff strength. However, in respect of branches, the local offices of the member banks would take suitable decision with regard to staff requirement depending on the business of the branch.

To permit work from home (WFH) for pregnant ladies, women with children of 5 years or below, staff members with co-morbidities and staff members with physical disabilities.

SLBC informed that alternate channel to remain open and function as usual besides back office services viz. currency chest, ATM cash loading vendors, offices in data centre, data recovery centres, ATM back offices, service branches, clearing house, bank treasury officers etc..

Further, it stated that Aadhar enrolment centre would be temporarily closed and minimum usage of biometrics would be ensured by banks to prevent spread of infection.

Customers have been advised to visit branches for availing essential services and suggested use of digital channel for non-essential services.

In case of any staff member found to be Covid positive, the branch should be closed down immediately and reopen after proper fumigation and sanitization.

SBI also suggested the feasible business continuity plan (BCP) for all the SLBC member banks in Nagaland to provide selective essential banking services to customers such as cash deposit and withdrawals; government transactions; clearing of cheques and remittance. Besides, branch could provide any other services as deemed fit.
