ST artisans trained on soft skill

Soft skill training programme for ST artisans sponsored by development commissioner (handicraft) under ministry of Textiles, government of India, Delhi was held at district planning and machinery conference hall, Wokha on March 27. 

The programme was organised by directorate of Industries and Commerce, Nagaland. 

A press release by functional manager, DIC, Wokha, Mhachan Kikon, stated that programme manager, development commissioner (handicraft) under Ministry of Textiles, Dinesh Kr Pal elaborated on the department’s objectives. 

He said that the vision of the department was to self empowered artisan in handicraft sector, especially focussing on Nagaland and entire North East region. 

He informed on the new marketing policies and possession of artisan ID card. 

Meanwhile, executive engineer, directorate of Industries and Commerce, Kohima, Er. Asenla Walling urged the artisans to avail the benefits by registering their names for the artisans ID cards. 

She also launched the integrated design and technical development workshop under design and up-gradation scheme craft. 

In this regard, she  requested all interested artisans and SHG to enroll their names at the DIC, Wokha.

Further, production manager, directorate of Industries & Commerce, Kohima, Hokeshe K. Zhimomi, in his speech highlighted the benefits of possessing artisan card, adding that anyone who possessed the card can avail a loan of Rs. 50,000 from the bank with less interest. 

APO, Lalit Babu and designer, Amit Yadav, both from development commissioner (handicraft) under the Ministry of Textiles, government of India also spoke during the programme.
