Following reports about Prime Minister’s Office setting September as the deadline for the final settlement of all Naga political issues, NPCC took up the matter with the All India Congress Committee and Congress Parliamentary Leaders of both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, seeking their support.

In a statement, NPCC president K. Therie said that he along with NPCC working president Bobby Panicker met AICC general secretary in-charge of Nagaland, Kuljit Singh Nagra and discussed about the Naga political journey from the Naga hills memorandum submission to Sir Simon Commission and also the milestones and achievements till date.

Therie also said that they had conveyed to the AICC about the aspirations and demands of the stakeholders and the issues raised by them during the consultative meetings with the Interlocutor.

The Frame Work Agreement as was elaborated in the 213th Report of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs was also discussed, he said.

Pointing out that 23 years of negotiation was a deliberate torture to peace loving citizens, NPCC said it was not reasonable for the Centre and negotiating teams to further delay.

After a patient hearing, NPCC said that Kuljit Nagra assured to take forward the issue to the Congress president, CWC members and Congress Parliamentary leaders in both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha for their consideration and to ensure that the interests of the stakeholders were well protected.
