State govt forms committee to settle KSC land issue

All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) Friday informed that the state government has constituted a committee for settlement of Kohima Science College (KSC ) Jotsoma land issue. In a press release, ANCSU president Vimeyiekho Vitso and general secretary Imnameren N Jamir said the union agreed to setting up of the committee, which was constituted during a joint meeting called by the chief minister’s office (CMO) on November 12, 2020, at Kohima Science College Jotsoma, under the chairmanship of principal secretary to chief minister. The meeting was attended by Kohima district administration, Jotsoma village council, administrators and faculty members of the KSC, Jotsoma and ANCSU. 

According to ANCSU, the committee would be headed by revenue officer, Kohima as chairman, SDO (C) Establishment, Kohima as member secretary and other members include EAC (Rev), estate committee, KSC, Jotsoma, ANCSU president, general secretary and information secretary, and one representative of each clan from Jotsoma village, executive members, Jotsoma village council, youth advisor, Jotsoma youth organization.

At the joint meeting, the union said the CMO and the district administration reiterated that no land allotment of the college land to others would be issued with immediate effect. The committee has been entrusted to formulate recommendations to the state government for permanent settlement of the KSC, Jotsoma land issue. 

ANCSU has expressed optimism that the competent authorities would come all out to permanently settle the land issue. It said that the constituted committee held its first meeting on November 26, 2020, at KSC Jotsoma and discussed wherein action plans on settling the land issue. 

Meanwhile, ANCSU has acknowledged the chief minister and the responsible authorities for promptly responding to the memorandum of the union with regard to KSC Jotsoma land issue.
