State level symposium on professionalism in teaching

Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE), Kohima and State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT), Nagaland jointly organised a “state level symposium on professionalism in teaching” at MITE conference hall on April 17 as a part MITE’s continuous professional development programme.

According to coordinator, Dr. T.S. Pandian, leaping ahead of others and adhering to the provisions of NEP 2020, MITE organised the symposium with the commitment to provide minimum of 50 hours continuous professional development opportunities per year for teacher educators serving in Nagaland for their self-empowerment and learning the latest innovations in their profession.

Resource person, SCERT, Nagaland professor, Dr. Zavise Rume geared the two sessions with topics “teaching-learning: a joyful experience” and “the power of professionals”.

Each session was followed by interactions among professionals and commitments made to improve upon the areas discussed.

This was done to enable to overcome the lacking professionalism in teachers in general and teacher-educators in particular.

Meanwhile, MITE vice-principal, H L Gangte delivered the vote of thanks and participants were awarded with certificates.

It may be mentioned that the state level symposium was held to empower teachers to refresh their cognitive, affective and psycho-motor domains of learning.
