State BJP on Sunday said that the by-elections have come at a crucial time when chief minister Neiphiu Rio was in pursuit to resolve the Naga political issue. The party, therefore, appealed to the people to strengthen the hands of the ruling PDA coalition.

Speaking at a by-election campaign meeting for NDPP/PDA consensus candidate Medo Yokah, at Kitsubozou panchayat hall on Sunday, IT, S&T and NRE adviser and BJP national spokesperson Mmhonlumo Kikon opined that the Naga political issue could be solved not only by NPGs or Government of India, but also by the 60 legislators representing the public through their contribution and leadership.

Mentioning that an important outcome of the October 15 consultative meeting was its stress on “one solution”, he claimed that as a witness to instability during the pre-ceasefire days, it was the endeavour of the government that the present generation saw real peace and development.

Lauding 14 Southern Angami-1 constituency for electing an educated and compassionate person like late Vikho-o Yhoshu, the adviser appealed to the electorate to vote for Medo Yhokha as he was young and had leadership qualities.

State BJP president and minister H&TE and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along claimed that the PDA had been providing a stable government for the past 2 years and seven months.

Admitting that though there were rooms for improvement like providing better roads to the people, he further claimed that road conditions have improved in the State after the PDA government came to power in March 2018. He said that the electorate had a lot of power, he urged them to vote with their mind and not emotionally and vote for the right candidate. He said Medo Yhokha has the mandate and confidence of the chief minister and PDA.

Others who spoke on the occasion included minister Nicky Kire, adviser Zale Neikha, NDPP working president Nuzota Swuro, assistant GB Vituozo Kire and NDPP/PDA candidate Medo Yhokha.
