Mangkolemba Town Council (MTC) with the assistance from Dobashis of Mangkolemba conducted a surprise checking on the “total ban on all single use plastic in Mangkolemba” on Monday.

According to a DIPR report, MTC confiscated around 13 cartoons of 300 ml water bottle, five kg of polythene bags and a total fine amount of Rs. 10000 was imposed on the defaulters.

Mangkolemba Town Council has appealed to the shopkeepers and public to avoid using single use plastic bags with or without handles irrespective of thickness and size, plastic cutlery including plates, plastic cups, straws, stirrers and other decorative made of Styrofoam (thermocol), mineral water bottle of size less than 1Litre, polythene, nylon, poly-vinyl- chloride (PVC), poly propylene and poly styrene in order to maintain the cleanliness and avoid damage to environment in the town.
