A day after the Nagaland Timber Traders’ Union (NTTU) alleged collection of tax from a timber-laden truck at Peducha on February 9 by police personnel, the Kohima police have ordered an enquiry into the allegation.

In a press note, Sr. Superintendent of Police Kohima stated if any of its personnel found guilty suitable action would be initiated against the erring personnel.

Senior SP said that Kohima police had only one inter-state check gate at Khuzama (Manipur-Nagaland border). “Elsewhere highway patrol vehicles with police personnel are deployed in National/state highway to provide security and assistance to commuters/travellers within Kohima district jurisdictions,” Sr. SP said.
