Tetso College observes Dr. Ambedkar’s birth anniv

In commemoration of 130th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, “DOT talks, an initiative of Tetso College, Dimapur to discuss and share ideas on issues, trends and life experiences”, in collaboration with department of political science, Tetso College organised an online public lecture series titled “the relevance and significance of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar: today & tomorrow”.

The opening lecture in the series, “thinking about democracy” was delivered by historian, feminist, Ambedkarite scholar and translator from Tamil Nadu, V Geetha on April 14.
Madras Institute of Development Studies, Prof. Ajit Menon and Dept. of Buddhist Studies, Arunachal University of Studies, Prof. Ven. Nyanissara Bhante were among special invitees. 
V. Geetha dealt with how Ambedkar might be read in the context of societies that were not caste-bound and were based on other social principles and other topics.
During the Q&A session, participants raised questions on the contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in the context of the North East India, debates on separate electorates, etc. 
The first lecture in the lecture series ended with concluding remarks from Dot Talks coordinator and faculty member, dept of political science, Tetso College Dr. Aniruddha Babar. She informed that the academic endeavour would be graced by internationally recognised academicians, thinkers while students would deliver consecutive lectures in the coming days.
