Thoubal gets one more 100-bedded Covid care facility

Manipur’s Thoubal district which is experiencing worsening COVID-19 situation following large number of locally transmitted cases got one more Covid care facility on Tuesday.

State education minister Dr Thokchom Radheshyam inaugurated the second 100-bedded COVID Care Centre (CCC) at Lamding Higher Secondary School, Wangjing, Thoubal on Tuesday.

After formally opening the CCC, the minister said that the second CCC was established in the district to enable the team of the district administrations to work better in the management and treatment of the pandemic and to meet the expectations and fulfil necessities of the people. 

He added that the second CCC was established with approval from the state government on a proposal put up by the district administration for the need of another CCC in the district.

The inauguration of the CCC was attended by district nodal officer T Ranjit Singh, DC of the district N Bandana Devi among others. Radheshyam lauded the the district administration for the managing the pandemic efficiently so far. 

He said that with the increase in testing for COVID-19, the state witnessed an increase in COVID positive cases. 

While people were reluctance and panicked, he said, the team of district administrations made relentless efforts in managing and fighting against the COVID-19.

The minister hoped that with the inauguration of the second CCC the health worker and district administration to manage better to some extent. 

The district already has a 30-bedded isolation ward for COVID patients at the district hospital at Thoubal district headquarters and a 100-bedded CCC at GNM School of Nursing.

The minister sought the support of the public and appealed to the them to extend help to the heath workers and not stigmatise and discriminate against frontline warriors.
