TSC hosts open tournament

The first edition of Tesophenyu Sporting Club (TSC) open tournament came to an end on January 22 at GHS Tesophenyu ground. Held on the theme, “Together for Friendship”, the closing ceremony was graced by senior supervisor Social Welfare Department, A.Z. Obed as special guest. 

In his address, the special guest lauded the organising committee for hosting one of the “best tournaments” involving all sections of Rengma youth. He opined that organising a big tournament was a challenging task for Rengma people but excluded positive that “when people come together, most things can be accomplished through camraderie, cooperation and coordination”. He further appreciated Tesophenyu Sporting Club for making the historic moment not only under Tesophenyu group but also for the whole of Rengma. 

In men’s football event, Tseminyu Youth Organisation (TYO) emerged as the champion defeating Tesophenyu Group Youth Organisation Tseminyu Town (TGYOT) with a solitary goal. United Brothers Tesophenyu emerged as 2nd runner-up.

The cash prize money for the champion was sponsored by Jwenga Seb.

In individual awards- Khiti Kath of TGYOTT was named the most/best promising player of the tournament (sponsored by Vanguard FC management). He will get an opportunity to train with VFC squad in Kohima football league  

Johilo Semp of TYO won the golden ball sponsored by Dr.Gwathonlo Tsela; Hyulozii Semp of TYO with nine goals received the golden boot sponsored by Shasinlo Thong andJoses Magh of TGYOTT won the golden glove sponsored by Benlo Thyu.

Yhunshalo Kemp was named as the best coach award sponsored by Vanguard FC management team and Chuyalo Jemu, TGYOTT as the best manager. 

Kithagha Students’ Union won the best disciplined team award sponsored by Genesis Store Tseminyu Town. 

In the women’s volleyball event, Tseminyu Village Youth Organisation clinched the champion by defeating Chunlikha women in the final. 

Tesophenyu Sporting Club women finished as second runner up. Er.Chengato Kath sponsored the champion cash and trophy.

All together 17(seventeen) teams/clubs participated in men’s football and seven teams/clubs participated in the women’s volleyball.
