Speaking after he had physically inaugurated the NIELIT centre in Churachandpur district, Chandrasekhar assured that the Centre in collaboration with the states will make NIELIT centres as job creation centres.  “These will not be just training centres in the coming years, these are centres to skill the youth and get the youth into the runway of opportunity and jobs,” he said.

Chandrasekhar further said that the Centre was considering for more companies to start coming into NE region on the back of NIELIT centres and start hiring directly from there.

“We would like them to start investing in the NE and create centres of development, maintenance and small manufacturing etc.,” he remarked. He further said that his ministry has implemented some programmes relating to job creation successfully, including BPOs, and in that line and was looking to create jobs in the IT and electronics manufacturing industry.

The Union minister added that over five lakh new jobs have been created in information technology and over three lakh jobs in electronic manufacturing alone in the current year.
