Vaccination for persons with disabilities

Office of the state commissioner for persons with disabilities (department of social welfare) Kohima has informed that second phase of Covid vaccination to immunise senior citizens and people with comorbidities in the age 45-59 years had started. 

In a press release, state commissioner for persons with disabilities, Diethono Nakhro informed that the list of comorbidities eligible for receiving vaccination include blood disorders such as sickle cell disease and thalassemia, people with multiple disabilities, including blindness and deafness, acid attack with respiratory tract involvement, muscular dystrophy, intellectual disabilities and disabled requiring high support needs (severe disabilities).
The state commissioner also requested persons with disabilities in the age of 45-59 years who were among the eligibility categories or have any of the other co-morbidities mentioned to avail the vaccination. 
The department of health & family (H&FW) welfare has informed that one can self-register through or register onsite along with a photo ID.
In this regard, NGOs, churches, and concerned citizens in the various districts have been requested to help eligible persons with disabilities register and get the vaccination.
The vaccines will be provided free of cost at all government facilities.
