Webinars on various issues in Mon, Kohima

District level committee for Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Mon, Modern College Kohima (MCK) MGM College, Dimapur conducted webinars on various issues on October 22, 24 and 28 respectively.

Mon: District level committee for Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan organised a webinar on “mental health and substance abuse” on October 22 at National Informatics Centre (NIC) room, DC office in Mon.
According to DIPR report, resource persons were director of Serendip Guardians, Rini Ghose and phsychiatric social worker of Serendip Guardians, Rugozevou Khate.
It may be noted that Serendip Guardians is one of the few NGOs working in the field of mental health. They aim to create awareness on mental health and advocate for improving psychological support for individuals and provide counseling to individuals or groups and offer programmes dealing with mental health.
Earlier, the webinar was attended by 26 master volunteers of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Mon district. Master volunteers were selected from various fields including education, student bodies and NGOs working at related sectors. 
The master volunteers will spread message of the Abhiyaan and implement various activities under the programme. MCK: National webinar on “Implementation of Domestic Violence Act and effectiveness thereof”, sponsored by National Commission for Women (NCW), Nagaland was conducted on October 24 at Modern College Kohima (MCK).  
A press release by MCK principal, Dr. H. P. Singh stated that, the programme was graced by commissioner and secretary of Social Welfare department, Sarah. R. Ritse. The resource persons for the webinar included Okram Kiranjit Singh, advocate, High Court of Manipur, Imphal Manipur, Gracy Ayee, state coordinator, State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW), Kohima and K. Ela, director, Prodigals’ Home, Dimapur.
The webinar was chaired by Wecheu Thahu, assistant professor and Dr. H.P. Singh gave the welcome address. 
MGM College: Department of Education, MGM College, Dimapur, organized webinar on “Role and functions of UGC, NCERT and NAAC” on October 28.
A press release by MGM College stated, main speaker of the event, dean of Academics, St. Joseph University, Prof. Dr. Ranjan Kumar Behra, explained the origin and functions of UGC, NAAC. He gave more inputs about Swayam Prabha, Nation digital library, an initiative of the ministry of HRD and insisted students, faculties and research scholars to use it for learning, research work and fruitful teaching. 
The webinar was inaugurated by Principal, Fr. Dr. P.S. Varghese. In his speech, he asserted that education was a continuous process, and in the field of higher education, one must know about roles of apex bodies of the country for better understanding. He further urged students to be creative during this “blessings in disguise time”. 
The release further added that the webinar was attended by faculty and 5th and 3rd semester students of education department.
