Nagaland State Transport (NST) department resumed the bus services on Thursday by strictly following the standard operating procedure (SOPs) and maintaining social distancing of 50% seating capacity.

NST Kohima station superintendent, Kevichutuo Sekhose, told Nagaland Post that bus services have resumed by making it mandatory for passengers, drivers, and conductors to wear masks and use hand sanitizers. He informed that the passengers undergo thermal screening before boarding the bus. Sekhose said that only one bus was sent to Dimapur on a trial basis on Thursday.

He said that depending on the demand of the passengers, the department would slowly resume the bus services from Kohima to other districts.

One of the bus drivers at the station expressed joy on the resumption of bus services after such a long gap. He informed that more than 50% of the bus drivers were still under COVID duty.

He said that outpost duties could resume only after they were released from COVID-19 duty.

The department has directed the bus driver and conductor to mandatorily carry appropriate disinfectants and periodically disinfect frequently touched surfaces of the vehicle such as doors and window handles, seats, overhead hand grips, etc.
