Yet another highest-single day recovery; 54 new cases in M’laya

Meghalaya on Saturday recorded yet another highest-single day recovery of COVID-19 patients with 311 patients being declared recovered from the viral infection, pushing the overall recoveries to 3,654.

Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said 54 more persons were tested positive for the viral infection during the past 24 hours, taking the number of active cases up to 1,515 as on date.

Out of the 311 recovered COVID-19 patients, the senior medical official said, 234, including 199 civilians and 35 armed forces and paramilitary forces, were from East Khasi Hills district alone – one of the worst hit districts out of the 11 districts in the State.

War further informed that 51 more patients have recovered in East Jaintia Hills district; 16 persons include 15 civilians and one Armed Force in Ri-Bhoi district; seven in West Garo Hills district; two in West Khasi Hills district and; one in West Jaintia Hills district.

He said 3,343 COVID-19 patients have been discharged as on date.

Of the 54 new cases, 31 persons were from East Khasi Hills district, 12 from West Garo Hills district, 6 from East Garo Hills district, and 2 from Ri-Bhoi district, besides one each from South Garo Hills, East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills districts.

War said 1,103 COVID-19 patients are undergoing institutional quarantine while 107 others are on home quarantine and isolation.
